Overview

Become a Security Analyst, Ethical Hacker, or GRC Specialist

The modern threat landscape is evolving faster than ever. Our Cybersecurity program, built in collaboration with Hacktales, is designed to move you from zero knowledge to a professional defender. We combine industry-leading theory with 12 weeks of guaranteed internship experience to ensure you enter the job market with a proven track record.

As organizations in Africa and globally undergo rapid digital transformation, they become prime targets for cybercrime. There is currently a massive shortage of skilled professionals to defend these digital assets. Whether it’s protecting financial systems, securing government data, or conducting ethical hacks to find vulnerabilities, cybersecurity offers one of the most recession-proof and high-impact career paths in tech.

In the first phase, you will go through a 6-week intensive where you master cybersecurity fundamentals, including networking, Linux administration, and the CIA Triad. Once this groundwork is laid, you get to choose your specific concentration: Red Team for offensive ethical hacking and penetration testing, Blue Team for defensive operations and incident response, or Purple Team for cyber risk management and governance. This specialization ensures you develop deep, industry-ready expertise in the area of security that aligns best with your career goals.

In the second phase, you enter a 12-week immersive internship experience in partnership with Hacktales. Here, you apply your skills to live security environments, working alongside seasoned experts to solve real-world vulnerabilities and defend actual digital assets. The program concludes with a capstone project where you develop a comprehensive security portfolio and undergo intensive interview coaching. This final phase is dedicated to turning your learning into professional experience, ensuring you don’t just graduate with a certificate, but with a proven track record and a guaranteed headstart in the industry.

We start from the absolute basics of systems and networking, so no prior technical experience is required, though a logical mindset and strong problem-solving skills are essential. This program is designed for four core profiles:

  • Career Switchers: Analytical individuals from non-tech backgrounds ready to pivot into a high-demand field. Whether you come from finance, education, or retail, we provide the upskilling needed to become a professional defender.
  • Recent Graduates: CS or IT graduates who have technical expertise but want to delve into Cybersecurity and need the practical, hands-on experience and the guaranteed internship to stand out in a competitive tech job market
  • IT Professionals & System Admins: Technical veterans looking to elevate their careers. Leverage your existing knowledge of systems and networks to transition into specialized roles like Security Analyst or Penetration Tester
  • Compliance & Legal Professionals: Individuals in audit, law, or governance who want to master Cyber Risk Management (Purple Team), allowing you to bridge the gap between regulatory requirements and technical security implementation

CURRICULUM

What you’ll learn in our Cybersecurity course

We go beyond theory, combining core security programming with live-environment simulations and a guaranteed 12-week internship to ensure you graduate with a professional track record.

Master the cybersecurity mindset. This module focuses on the core architecture of security and the essential tools of the trade. You’ll spend less time reading and more time on the security tools, learning how to navigate and secure the systems you’ll eventually protect.

  • The Security Toolkit: Mastering Linux CLI, file permissions, and system administration for security operations
  • Core Principles: Deep-diving into the CIA Triad and the “Cyber Kill Chain” to understand how attackers think
  • Practical Networking: Hands-on configuration of TCP/IP, DNS, and HTTP/S to understand data in transit
  • Threat Identification: Lab-based identification of malware, social engineering, and common attack vectors

Learn to think and operate like a real attacker within ethical and legal boundaries. This track focuses on simulating realistic attack paths to identify exposures that could lead to initial access and system impact:

  • Attack Surface & Initial Access: Conduct OSINT and network service enumeration to identify authentication weaknesses and simulate initial access scenarios
  • Post-Exploitation & Impact: Analyze opportunities for privilege escalation and map lateral movement paths to demonstrate business impact
  • Detection Awareness: Assess how offensive actions trigger defensive controls like EDR and SIEM to provide remediation guidance
  • Adversary Simulation (Capstone): Plan and execute an end-to-end red team assessment, culminating in a professional findings report

In this path, you are the first responder. You will work within a simulated Security Operations Center (SOC) to detect, block, and recover from real-time cyber attacks:

  • Environment Control: Design and build segmented network architectures, establishing baselines for “normal” traffic flow
  • Hardening & Exposure: Deploy firewalls with strict allow/deny logic and manage the vulnerability remediation lifecycle
  • SOC Visibility: Configure SIEM platforms for centralized log ingestion and analyze telemetry to identify anomalies
  • Integrated Defense (Capstone): Conduct a full security review, validating firewall rules and providing summaries of notable event investigations

Develop hands-on, ISO 27001-aligned GRC capability. This track focuses on defining governance context, assessing organizational risk, and ensuring audit readiness through real-world artifacts:

  • Risk & Gap Assessment: Define methodologies to identify threats and execute clause-by-clause ISO 27001 gap analyses
  • Policies & Awareness: Develop Information Security Policies (ISP) and design security culture campaigns to mitigate human risk
  • Privacy & Third-Party Risk: Review privacy notices for GDPR/NDPR gaps and perform vendor risk assessments using checklists
  • ISMS Readiness (Capstone): Consolidate risk registers and audit outputs to deliver a complete ISO 27001 readiness pack

Upon completing your chosen track, you will be considered program-ready and prepared for entry-level roles in SOC operations, penetration testing, or risk analysis:

  • The Internship: Actively implement knowledge from weekend classes during the week by completing deliverables as an attachee at Hacktales
  • Vendor Certification Access: To support your continuous professional development, you will be enrolled in additional certification pathways, including ISC² Certified in Cybersecurity (CC), Qualys, and Fortinet
  • The Capstone: Complete a comprehensive final project, such as an ISO 27001 Readiness Pack (Purple Team), Adversary Simulation Report (Red Team), or an Integrated Blue Team Scenario—and present it to finalize your graduation
